History fans won’t go far wrong with areas of Turkey such as Dalaman which has been home to many ancient civilizations over the years such as the Byzantines and Lycians, they have left behind their mark on the area with many ruins and archaeological wonders such as elaborate burial tombs.

Most of the time when we are looking to get away for our holidays though we are looking for a nice beach to laze on and crystal clear oceans, Dalaman holidays offer this with it’s many white and golden sandy beaches and coves, some of which are so remote that you will need to venture out by boat, although the rewards for such effort are your own private beach free of all the noise and congestion you find on your average Mediterranean beach during peak season.

The cuisine in Turkey is something to savour, so much so that we have many Turkish restaurants here in the UK that will have whet our appetite for authentic Turkish cuisine. A lot of the dishes make great use of the locally grown vegetables and fruits grown in the Dalaman valley. Meats such as lamb are also popular with many flavour filled dishes available for you to test on your travels.

The best time of year to visit Dalaman and Turkey in general is definitely during the spring months between April and June, whilst the weather in summer and even autumn can be fine for your average holidays there is more chance of rain during your visit outside of the spring months. With the area being surrounded by mountains forming a large valley during the evenings you’ll get cooler breezes which can come as welcome relief from the soaring mid-thirties temperatures during the day!

The Turkish government has recently dedicated Dalaman as a protected tourist area meaning that those looking to invest into Turkey are being actively encouraged to develop the Dalaman area and will no doubt see much more tourists staying in the area as opposed to other resorts such as Marmaris, another terminal has recently been added to Dalaman airport to cope with the influx of tourists flocking to the country.

For those who may have grown tired of the same old Mediterranean holidays they can still get all the sun and beach action that they are accustomed to but with Turkey and specifically Dalaman you can discover so much more to ensure you and your family have a great holiday this year.
